The Old Mutual European Best Ideas Fund aims to achieve asset growth through investment in a well-diversified portfolio of equities or equity related securities of European issuers or of issuers established outside Europe which have a predominant proportion of their assets and/or business operations in Europe.
The manager aims for consistent out performance of the peer group through concentrating on the best ideas of a group of ‘star’ fund managers, creating a concentrated, performance-oriented fund of between 50 – 100 stocks.
The focus is on producing significant excess returns from a portfolio of high conviction ideas, with an emphasis on effective active positions.
The fund targets a high ‘active share’ component by aiming at a portfolio that is significantly different from that of the reference index.
A focus on execution
Lee’s unique focus on how high-conviction ideas are executed, utilising proprietary ‘tools’ (both for the purposes of trading and managing the team) drives the investment process.
The fund comprises the best stock ideas of a team of ‘star’ European fund managers, who are encouraged to pursue their highest conviction ideas, unconstrained by benchmarks, and so seek a high level of alpha throughout the market cycle.
